Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). When she was a kid she was enrolled in her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was only six when she made the decision to become an actress. She was trained for many years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she studied acting as well as singing. At the age of 10, she had appeared and played the lead in various Stagecoach productions and school plays. The casting process began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by Emma's Oxford Theatre teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had eight consecutive auditions. Emma's first cinematic appearance was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was also the most successful film during 2001. Opening weekend and day sales were record-breaking. The film has been praised by critics for its film and the performance of the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma received the Young Artist Award as the most outstanding young actor in an Feature Film. Emma was awarded five times for her role in the movie.
